Meeting Thu 09/18/08 at 5:30 - Erik Hatcher on SOLR

Abstract:
Solr opens up the power of Lucene as a general-purpose search platform, easily integrated with most any environment. Solr's capabilities include faceting, caching, replication, distributed search, and much more. This talk will cover these features of Solr and showcase several applications that have been built on top of Solr, as well as several live demonstrations of Solr in action.

Speaker Bio:
Erik returns to the RJUG this year, having presented to us a few years back on his as a contributor to the Jakarta open source project Ant and signed our copies of his 2003 Manning book Java Development with Ant.

Erik has been a NFJS speaker and has spoken on Solr/Lucene and many other developer topics around the world at various conferences, symposiums, and user groups.

Erik Hatcher loves Lucene! And has seen the light with Solr. Erik co-authored "Lucene in Action" (with 2nd edition now in progress). Erik works for Lucid Imagination, a startup providing Solr/ Lucene-based support, product, training, and consulting.
